Chapter 6
It had been two weeks since Mark Sr. proposed to Rain, and she hadn’t told a soul. Not even her assistant Amanda. She knew she had to break the news to her son, and also tell him about his other siblings. Every time Mark asked her about the situation, she told him no. She knew he was now getting impatient. Rain realized she needed some advice.
Rain and Amanda had been close friends for the past five years since she hired her. She always gave Rain good advice. Therefore, Rain trusted her to help her make the right decision on how to break the news to Luchi.
Rain sat at her desk in a daze when she heard a knock at the door. “Come in,” Rain shouted and the door opened, it was Amanda. Rain smiled at her. “I see you brought lunch, have a seat.” Amanda sat down, and put the bags of sushi on her desk.
“What’s going on boss lady? Why the sudden lunch meeting?” Amanda asked in a curious tone.
“I have to talk to you about Mark Jr. and his father.” Amanda was all ears. Rain didn’t speak too much of her and Mark’s relationship, and she had only saw him a couple times.
“Well first, his father finally proposed to me after so many years. He was married when I met him. We had an affair, and Mark Jr. doesn’t know these things. Mark has other kids. Three girls. He wants them to finally meet and be in our wedding.” Amanda was speechless. She always had the right things to say, but this time it was different.
“Wow, this is big. Well I think he’s grown enough to know and accept it. At least Mark is trying to make it right.”
Rain knew she had to do what she had to do. Therefore, she decided to call Luchi and set up a meeting with him. “I wish you the best of luck girl. The older they get, the less understanding they are. Trust me; I have three grown kids still under my roof. Your son seems different, so I wouldn’t worry too much.” Rain was hoping she was right. She didn’t want to upset Mark, and ruin her chance of finally being with him. Therefore, she was swallowing whatever it was she was afraid of and going forth with the meeting.

Luchi was finally feeling confident enough to ask Syneca on a date again. Nyala told him that she accepted his gift and would be ready in a couple days. He was ecstatic about getting her to agree on a date. He decided to give her a call. The phone rang a few times, and she answered. “Hello Mark, how are you?” Luchi smiled; she was the only person around him besides his mom that called him Mark.
“I’m great now that I am talking to you. I have something set up for us tonight. Can you step out with me?” Syneca became quiet. She still wasn’t ready. She had been so busy looking for a gig that she hadn’t made it to the salon.
